2. How can one know God’s disposition and essence?
Relevant Words of God:

People often say that it is not an easy thing to know God. I, however, say that knowing God is not a difficult matter at all, for God frequently allows man to witness His deeds. God has never ceased His dialogue with mankind; He has never concealed Himself from man, nor has He hidden Himself. His thoughts, His ideas, His words and His deeds are all revealed to mankind. Therefore, so long as man wishes to know God, he can come to understand and know Him through all sorts of means and methods. … Truthfully speaking, if one only uses their idle time to focus upon and understand the Creator’s words or deeds, and pay a little attention to the Creator’s thoughts and the voice of His heart, it will not be difficult for them to realize that the Creator’s thoughts, words and deeds are visible and transparent. Likewise, it will take little effort to realize that the Creator is among man at all times, that He is always in conversation with man and the entirety of creation, and that He is performing new deeds every day. His substance and disposition are expressed in His dialogue with man; His thoughts and ideas are revealed completely in His deeds; He accompanies and observes mankind at all times. He speaks quietly to mankind and all of creation with His silent words: I am in the heavens, and I am amongst My creation. I am keeping watch; I am waiting; I am at your side….

from “God Himself, the Unique II” in The Word Appears in the Flesh

The disposition of God is a subject that seems very abstract to everyone and is moreover one that is not easy for everyone to accept, for His disposition is unlike a human being’s personality. God, too, has His own emotions of joy, anger, sorrow, and happiness, but these emotions differ from those of man. God is what He is and He has what He has. All that He expresses and reveals are representations of His substance and of His identity. What He is and what He has, as well as His substance and identity, are things that cannot be replaced by any man. His disposition encompasses His love for mankind, solace of mankind, hatred of mankind, and even more, a thorough understanding of mankind. … The disposition of God is one that belongs to the Ruler of all things and living beings, to the Lord of all creation. His disposition represents honor, power, nobility, greatness, and most of all, supremacy. His disposition is the symbol of authority, the symbol of all that is righteous, the symbol of all that is beautiful and good. More than this, it is a symbol of Him who cannot be[a] overcome or invaded by the darkness and any enemy force, as well as a symbol of Him who cannot be offended (nor will He tolerate being offended)[b] by any created being. His disposition is the symbol of the highest power. No person or persons can or may disturb His work or His disposition.

from “It Is Very Important to Understand God’s Disposition” in The Word Appears in the Flesh

The joy of God is due to the existence and emergence of righteousness and light; because of the destruction of darkness and evil. He takes delight because He has brought the light and a good life to mankind; His joy is a righteous joy, a symbol of the existence of all that is positive and, even more, a symbol of auspiciousness. The anger of God is due to the existence of injustice and the disturbance it causes that are harming His mankind; because of the existence of evil and darkness, because of the existence of things that drive out the truth, and even more because of the existence of things that oppose what is good and beautiful. His anger is a symbol that all things negative no longer exist and, even more, is a symbol of His holiness. His sorrow is due to mankind, for whom He has hopes but who has fallen into darkness, because the work He does on man does not come up to His expectations, and because the mankind He loves cannot all live in the light. He feels sorrow for the innocent mankind, for the honest but ignorant man, and for the man who is good but lacking in his own views. His sorrow is a symbol of His goodness and of His mercy, a symbol of beauty and of kindness. His happiness, of course, comes from defeating His enemies and gaining the good faith of man. More than this, it arises from the expulsion and destruction of all enemy forces, and because mankind receives a good and peaceful life. The happiness of God is unlike the joy of man; rather, it is the feeling of garnering good fruits, a feeling even greater than joy. His happiness is a symbol of mankind breaking free of suffering from this time forth, and a symbol of mankind entering a world of light.

from “It Is Very Important to Understand God’s Disposition” in The Word Appears in the Flesh

Is the truthfulness of God His holiness? Is the faithfulness of God His holiness? Is the selflessness of God His holiness? Is the humility of God His holiness? Is the love of God for man His holiness? God freely bestows truth and life on man—is this His holiness? (Yes.) All this that God reveals is unique; it does not exist within corrupt humanity, nor can it be seen there. Not the slightest trace of it can be seen during the process of Satan’s corruption of man, neither in the corrupt disposition of Satan nor in the essence or nature of Satan. All that God has and is is unique and only God Himself has this kind of essence, only God Himself possesses this kind of essence.

from “God Himself, the Unique VI” in The Word Appears in the Flesh

Knowing God must be done through reading and understanding God’s word. Some say: “I haven’t seen God incarnate, so how could I know God?” In fact, God’s word is an expression of God’s disposition. From God’s word you can see God’s love and salvation for mankind, and His method for saving them…. This is because God’s word is expressed by God Himself as opposed to using man to write it out. It is personally expressed by God—He is expressing His own words and His inner voice. Why do we say that they are heartfelt words? Because they are issued from deep down, expressing His disposition, His will, His thoughts, His love for mankind, His salvation of mankind, and His expectations of mankind…. Sometimes God speaks from a gentle and compassionate perspective, and people see God’s love for mankind; sometimes He speaks from a strict perspective, and people see God’s disposition that will tolerate no offense. Man is deplorably filthy and is not worthy of seeing God’s face or of coming before God. That people can now come before God is purely God’s grace. God’s wisdom can be seen from the way He works and the meaning of His work. People can still see these things in God’s word even without directly contacting Him.

from “How to Know God Incarnate” in Records of Christ’s Talks

The words and disposition issued forth and revealed by God represent His will, and they also represent His substance. When God engages with man, no matter what He says or does, or what disposition He reveals, and no matter what man sees of God’s substance and what He has and is, they all represent God’s will for man. Regardless of how much man is able to realize, comprehend or understand, it all represents God’s will—God’s will for man. This is beyond doubt! God’s will for mankind is how He requires people to be, what He requires them to do, how He requires them to live, and how He requires them to be capable of accomplishing the fulfillment of God’s will. Are these things inseparable from the substance of God? In other words, God issues forth His disposition and all that He has and is at the same time as making demands of man. There is no falsity, no pretense, no concealment, and no embellishment.

from “God’s Work, God’s Disposition, and God Himself II” in The Word Appears in the Flesh

No matter what stage you have arrived at in your experience, you are inseparable from God’s word or the truth, and what you understand of God’s disposition and what you know of what God has and is are all expressed in God’s words; they are inextricably linked with the truth. God’s disposition and what He has and is themselves are the truth; the truth is an authentic manifestation of God’s disposition and what He has and is. It makes what God has and is concrete and expressly states it; it tells you more straightforwardly what God likes, what He doesn’t like, what He wants you to do and what He does not permit you to do, what people He despises and what people He delights in. Behind the truths that God expresses people can see His pleasure, anger, sorrow, and happiness, as well as His essence—this is the revealing of His disposition. Aside from knowing what God has and is, and understanding His disposition from His word, what is most important is the need to reach this understanding through practical experience. If a person removes themselves from real life in order to know God, they will not be able to achieve that. Even if there are people who can gain some understanding from the word of God, it is limited to theories and words, and there is a disparity with what God is really like.

from “God’s Work, God’s Disposition, and God Himself III” in The Word Appears in the Flesh

God’s possessions and being, God’s essence, God’s disposition—all has been made known in His words to humankind. When he experiences God’s words, man will in the process of carrying them out come to understand the purpose behind the words God speaks, and to understand the wellspring and background of God’s words, and to understand and appreciate the intended effect of God’s words. For humanity, these are all things that man must experience, grasp, and access in order to access truth and life, grasp God’s intentions, become transformed in his disposition, and become able to obey God’s sovereignty and arrangements. At the same time that man experiences, grasps, and accesses these things, he will gradually have gained an understanding of God, and at this time he will also have gained different degrees of knowledge about Him. This understanding and knowledge does not come out of something man has imagined or composed, but rather from what he appreciates, experiences, feels, and corroborates within himself. Only after appreciating, experiencing, feeling, and corroborating these things does man’s knowledge of God acquire content, only the knowledge that he obtains at this time is actual, real, and accurate, and this process—of attaining genuine understanding and knowledge of God through appreciating, experiencing, feeling, and corroborating His words—is no other than true communion between man and God. In the midst of this kind of communion, man comes truly to understand and comprehend God’s intentions, comes truly to understand and know God’s possessions and being, comes truly to understand and know God’s essence, comes gradually to understand and know God’s disposition, arrives at real certainty about, and a correct definition of, the fact of God’s dominion over all creation, and gains a substantive bearing on and knowledge of God’s identity and position. In the midst of this kind of communion, man changes, step by step, his ideas about God, no longer imagining Him out of thin air, or giving rein to his own suspicions about Him, or misunderstanding Him, or condemning Him, or passing judgment on Him, or doubting Him. In consequence, man will have fewer debates with God, he will have fewer conflicts with God, and there will be fewer occasions on which he rebels against God. Conversely, man’s caring for and obedience to God will grow greater, and his reverence for God will become more real as well as more profound. In the midst of this kind of communion, man will not only attain the provision of truth and the baptism of life, but he will at the same time also attain true knowledge of God. In the midst of this kind of communion, man will not only be transformed in his disposition and receive salvation, but he will at the same time also garner the true reverence and worship of a created being toward God. Having had this kind of communion, man’s faith in God will no longer be a blank sheet of paper, or a promise offered up in lip service, or a form of blind pursuit and idolization; only with this kind of communion will man’s life grow toward maturity day by day, and only now will his disposition gradually become transformed, and his faith in God will, step by step, pass from a vague and uncertain belief into genuine obedience and caring, into real reverence, and man will also, in his pursuit of God, gradually progress from a passive to an active stance, from one who is acted upon into one who takes positive action; only with this kind of communion will man arrive at true understanding and comprehension of God, at true knowledge of God.

from “Knowing God Is the Path to Fearing God and Shunning Evil” in The Word Appears in the Flesh

Knowledge of God’s authority, God’s power, God’s own identity, and God’s substance cannot be achieved by relying on your imagination. Since you cannot rely on imagination to know the authority of God, then in what way can you achieve a true knowledge of God’s authority? Through eating and drinking the words of God, through fellowship, and through experiencing the words of God, you will have a gradual experience and verification of God’s authority and thus you will gain a gradual understanding and incremental knowledge of it. This is the only way to achieve the knowledge of God’s authority; there are no shortcuts. Asking you not to imagine is not the same as making you sit passively to await destruction, or stopping you from doing anything. Not using your brain to think and imagine means not using logic to infer, not using knowledge to analyze, not using science as the basis, but instead appreciating, verifying, and confirming that the God you believe in has authority, confirming that He holds sovereignty over your fate, and that His power at all times proves Him to be the true God Himself, through the words of God, through the truth, through everything that you encounter in life. This is the only way that anyone can achieve an understanding of God. Some say that they wish to find a simple way of achieving this aim, but can you think of such a way? I tell you, there’s no need to think: There are no other ways! The only way is to conscientiously and steadfastly know and verify what God has and is through every word that He expresses and everything that He does. This is the only way to know God. For what God has and is, and everything of God, is not hollow and empty—but real.

Why Did the Lord Jesus Say He Is the Lord of the Sabbath?

By Li Qing, China

Early one morning, as I was practicing my spiritual devotions, I saw this written in the Bible: “At that time Jesus went on the sabbath day through the corn; and his disciples were an hungered, and began to pluck the ears of corn and to eat. But when the Pharisees saw it, they said to him, Behold, your disciples do that which is not lawful to do on the sabbath day. But he said to them…. But I say to you, That in this place is one greater than the temple. But if you had known what this means, I will have mercy, and not sacrifice, you would not have condemned the guiltless. For the Son of man is Lord even of the sabbath day” (Matthew 12:1–3, 6–8).

After reading this passage, I fell into deep thought: “In the Age of Law, Jehovah instructed the common people to keep the Sabbath. On the Sabbath day, the common people were to stop all work; if they did not stop work on that day, then that would be a sin, and they would have to be dealt with. When the Lord Jesus came to perform His work, He no longer kept the Sabbath day, but instead He led the disciples to various places to preach the gospel and to work. Why was this? What warning does the Lord Jesus doing this hold for us?” I pondered this for a long time, but still I didn’t understand.
Eastern Lightning, the Church of Almighty God, Lord Jesus,
About Lord Jesus
Several days later, I heard that Co-worker Xue had returned from a trip to hear sermons, and so I went to visit her at her home. She cheerfully shared with me what she had gained from listening to sermons and she took out a book. She said the book revealed many truths and mysteries that had never before been heard. She said that she’d read much of the book, that the more she read it, the more light filled her heart, and that she had come to understand many truths which she had not previously understood. After listening to Co-worker Xue, I kept thanking God’s preparations with all my heart, and I couldn’t stop myself from telling her about what had been perplexing me over the past few days. Smiling, she said to me, “Thank the Lord. This book speaks very clearly about the issue of why the Lord Jesus worked on the Sabbath day. Let’s look at it together.” As she said this, she opened the book and let me read. I read: “When the Lord Jesus came, He used His practical actions to communicate to people: God had departed the Age of Law and had begun new work, and this new work did not require observation of the Sabbath; when God came out from the confines of the Sabbath day, this was just a foretaste of His new work, and His truly great work was continuing to play out. When the Lord Jesus began His work, He had already left behind the shackles of the Age of Law, and had broken through the regulations and principles from that age. In Him, there was no trace of anything related to the law; He had cast it off entirely and no longer observed it, and He no longer required mankind to observe it. So here you see that the Lord Jesus went through the corn fields on the Sabbath; the Lord did not rest, but was outside working. This action of His was a shock to people’s conceptions and communicated to them that He no longer lived under the law, and that He had left the confines of the Sabbath and appeared in front of mankind and in their midst in a new image, with a new way of working. This action of His told people that He had brought with Him new work that began with going out from the law and going out of the Sabbath. When God carried out His new work, He no longer clung to the past, and He was no longer concerned about the regulations of the Age of Law. Neither was He affected by His work in the previous age, but He worked as usual on the Sabbath and when His disciples were hungry, they could pick ears of corn to eat. This was all very normal in God’s eyes. God could have a new beginning for much of the work that He wants to do and the things that He wants to say. Once He has a new start, He neither mentions His previous work again nor continues it. For God has His principles in His work. When He wants to begin new work, it is when He wants to bring mankind into a new stage of His work, and when His work has entered a higher phase. If people continue to act according to the old sayings or regulations or continue to hold fast to them, He will not remember or praise this. This is because He has already brought new work, and has entered a new phase of His work. When He initiates new work, He appears to mankind with a completely new image, from a completely new angle, and in a completely new way so that people can see different aspects of His disposition and what He has and is. This is one of His goals in His new work. God does not hold on to the old or take the beaten path; when He works and speaks it’s not as prohibitive as people imagine. In God, all is free and liberated, and there is no prohibitiveness, no constraints—what He brings to mankind is all freedom and liberation. He is a living God, a God who genuinely, truly exists. He is not a puppet or a clay sculpture, and He is totally different from the idols that people enshrine and worship. He is living and vibrant and what His words and work bring to humans is all life and light, all freedom and liberation, because He holds the truth, the life, and the way—He is not constrained by anything in any of His work. … Thus, the Lord Jesus could openly go out and work on the Sabbath because in His heart there were no rules, and there was no knowledge or doctrine that originated from mankind. What He had was God’s new work and His way, and His work was the way to free mankind, to release them, to allow them to exist in the light, and to allow them to live” (“God’s Work, God’s Disposition, and God Himself III”).

I understood a little after reading this passage, and I said to Co-worker Xue: “So when the Lord Jesus came to perform His work, He didn’t keep the Sabbath day, but He led His disciples to various places to preach the gospel and to work, and He did this to tell the people of that time that God had left the laws behind and was now doing a new work. He wanted to lead people into the new age. It seems that God’s will is behind every single thing God does!”

Eastern Lightning, the Church of Almighty God, Lord Jesus,
About Lord Jesus
Co-worker Xue said to me, “Yes, this passage states very clearly why the Lord Jesus worked on the Sabbath day. When God works, He does not cling to old ways of doing things and He does not travel down old roads. God always does newer and higher work according to the needs of corrupt mankind. When He does a new work, God no longer holds to previous work, and if people hold to previous practices then they are clinging to rules. Only by giving up old rules and practices and closely following the footsteps of God’s work can people attain His salvation. In the Age of Law, for example, through Moses, God proclaimed the laws and commandments to guide mankind’s life on earth, and He required that man observe the laws and commandments and that they must keep the Sabbath day. This was because the people at that time didn’t know how to conduct their lives, and they knew nothing about what worshiping God was, about how to worship God or when to work, and so on. God didn’t wish to see mankind busying themselves all day long, working from the break of day and then resting at sundown, living only for the sake of food, clothing and shelter and raising their families. And so, He proclaimed His laws and commandments for man to observe, and He prepared the Sabbath day for man, requiring that they work six days, and then stop all work on the seventh day in order to come before God and worship Him. But at the end of the Age of Law, mankind was becoming more and more corrupted by Satan and, even though they appeared to keep the Sabbath day and they appeared to worship and praise God on the Sabbath, they no longer had any true worship of God in their hearts. Even though they kept the Sabbath day, it was still just a kind of rule or ritual, without any meaning whatsoever. Therefore, when the Lord Jesus came to perform His work, He expressed the way of repentance in light of man’s needs and He no longer enjoined people to keep the rules and practices of the Sabbath day. Instead, He led people to leave behind the laws and the Sabbath day, and He proposed new requirements for man: To worship God in spirit and in truth. In this way, people were able to have a newer, higher path of practice and, only by letting go of previous rules and practices and practicing in accordance with God’s requirements could they enjoy the peace and joy bestowed by the Lord and live under God’s care and protection. From the outside, it looked as though the Lord Jesus was abandoning the laws by no longer keeping the Sabbath day, but in essence He was fulfilling the laws, and was allowing people to move on from rules and rituals to worshiping God in spirit and in truth. This was a more profound practice and entry into worshiping God that enabled people to be closer and more intimate with the heart of God. If the Lord had not personally led His disciples to leave the Sabbath day behind them, then no one would have been able to move beyond the constraints of the laws. Only by God Himself continually doing new work were people able to have a new path of practice and obtain liberation and freedom of the spirit. From God’s work, we can see that God is the true and the living God, and that with God there are no rules and no taboos. God is not limited by laws or rules when He performs a new work, and He does not cling to old work. God is ever new and never old, and is always leading man into a newer, higher realm. When God performed His new work, He did not cling at all to old rules or practices; He worked amongst man in an entirely new way, thus enabling them to have a newer path of practice and, ultimately, He saved people from the laws and allowed them to live before Him in freedom and liberation, and to attain His salvation.”

After listening to Co-worker Xue’s fellowship, I said in excitement: “My heart is so clear now! God’s work is very practical and He does not cling to old ways of doing things at all. He always performs new work according to our needs, He shows us new paths of practice, and He enables us to better come before Him to worship Him and to enjoy His blessings. If God hadn’t done a new work and guided man away from the Sabbath day, people would have been constantly bound by the laws; they would have worshiped God in rules and rituals and would even have been condemned and punished for violating the laws. God really loves us so much!”

Co-worker Xue nodded her head, and said happily, “Yes indeed. Every single thing God does has a profound meaning, and they are all filled with the love God has for us mankind! Therefore, when God performs a new work, whether God’s work tallies with our misconceptions and imaginings or not, or whether we understand it or not, we should always seek God’s will and try to know His work with a heart that reveres Him, for only in this way can we follow closely God’s footsteps and attain His salvation. If we are arrogant and conceited, and we do not seek or know God’s new work, then we will be apt to rebel against God and resist God, and we will lose God’s salvation—the consequences don’t bear thinking about! The chief priests, scribes and Pharisees back then, for example, saw clearly that the words and work of the Lord Jesus possessed authority and power, but they did not seek the truth with an open mind, nor did they know God’s work. Instead, they clung tightly to laws and rules, and they used them to condemn the Lord Jesus’ work and words as having gone beyond the Old Testament, and they judged the Lord Jesus to have violated the laws by not keeping the Sabbath day. And they compared the Lord Jesus’ work with the work of Jehovah at every turn, and so long as they failed to tally with their own misconceptions and imaginings, they condemned, judged and even blasphemed the Lord Jesus. In the end, they collaborated with the Roman authorities to crucify the Lord Jesus upon the cross, and thus they were cursed and punished by God. The lesson of the Pharisees’ failure serves as a warning to us that, no matter where God appears or in what way He works, we cannot rely on our misconceptions and imaginings and use God’s previous work to delimit His new work. The wisdom of God is so wondrous and unfathomable; no matter what God does, He does it to better be able to save mankind, and behind it all lies God’s will and His painstaking efforts. We—corrupt mankind—cannot possibly fathom God’s work. All we can do is seek and accept God’s work with a heart of reverence, for only in this way will we be able to win God’s approval and blessing.”

I nodded my head, and said to Co-worker Xue, “Yes! God is so wise, so almighty, how can we humans possibly fathom His work? Just like it says in the Bible: ‘O the depth of the riches both of the wisdom and knowledge of God! how unsearchable are his judgments, and his ways past finding out! For who has known the mind of the Lord? or who has been his counselor?’ (Romans 11:33–34). In our approach to God’s new work, we must seek and study it more with a heart that reveres God, and only then will we be able to attain God’s salvation! Thank the Lord! Today’s fellowship has really done me a lot of good!”

“Thank the Lord!”

What’s the Origin of Eastern Lightning?

We are now in the last days, the prophecies of the Lord’s return have basically been fulfilled, and thousands upon thousands of pious believers are fervently hoping for the Lord Jesus’ return. At the same time, however, Eastern Lightning has openly given testimony that the Lord Jesus has already returned—that is, Almighty God, the incarnation of the last days—and that He has already done His work of judgment beginning with God’s house. The emergence of Eastern Lightning has shaken the whole religious world as well as all those who sincerely believe in God and thirst for the truth. Through seeking and investigating the words and work of Almighty God, many people confirm that Almighty God is the returned Lord Jesus, and one after another they come before Almighty God. This has thrown pastors and elders of the religious world as well as the CCP government into a panic; they collude together to suppress and outlaw Eastern Lightning, fabricating many rumors and savagely condemning and vilifying Eastern Lightning as heresy. They do all they can to obstruct and harass sincere believers who want to seek and investigate the appearance and work of Almighty God in the last days. The historical tragedy of the Jewish religious world allying itself with the Roman government to cruelly oppress the Lord Jesus is being played out again. Opinions vary as to whether or not Eastern Lightning is the return of the Lord Jesus, and whether or not it is God’s work; some people follow along with the pastors and elders of the religious world in their denial and condemnation, but there are also some who believe Eastern Lightning is related to the Lord Jesus’ prophecy in the Bible that says, “For as the lightning comes out of the east, and shines even to the west; so shall also the coming of the Son of man be” (Matthew 24:27), and that it is connected to the coming of the Son of man in the last days. So what really is the origin of Eastern Lightning? Is it God’s work, and what kind of mysteries does it hold?

All who understand God’s work know that God’s work is ever new and unceasing in its onward progression. For example, in the Age of Law God worked through the Spirit and issued the laws that would guide man’s lives on earth. Then, in the Age of Grace, God was incarnated and appeared as the Son of man to do His work, healing the sick and casting out demons, performing many miraculous deeds and expressing the way of “Repent: for the kingdom of heaven is at hand” (Matthew 4:17). He was then nailed upon the cross and completed His work to redeem all mankind. But people don’t know God’s work, and on top of that have an arrogant satanic nature, and are all very self-righteous, rigid and stubborn. They also cling to notions and imaginings, to the point where they even become sick of the truth and hate the truth. This is why every time God performs a new work, He must suffer the wild blasphemy, persecution and condemnation of the religious world and the ruling powers. Those who spread and testify to God’s new work can also be slapped with all manner of charges and disparaging terms, as well as being persecuted. This fact is recorded in the New Testament: In order to save mankind from the danger of being punished for breaking laws they couldn’t keep, God was incarnated in the image of the Lord Jesus and began the work of redemption in the Age of Grace. When the Lord Jesus was performing His work in Judea, He performed many miraculous deeds, healed the sick and cast out demons, bestowed on man an abundance of grace and expressed many truths. This is sufficient to prove that the Lord Jesus was God Himself and that He was the Messiah the Israelites had so longed for. However, the Jewish chief priests, scribes and Pharisees stubbornly clung to religious notions and simply refused to believe that Jesus was the Messiah they had longed for for so long. On the contrary, they scoured the Bible for things to use against Jesus, they slandered, judged and condemned the Lord Jesus’ work as heresy (see Acts 24:14) and Jesus Himself as the “ringleader of the sect of the Nazarenes” (see Acts 24:5). They deceived and incited the Jewish people to condemn the Lord Jesus, and allied themselves with the Roman government to crucify Him. This is why the entire Jewish nation offended God’s disposition and suffered unprecedented destruction. It is evident that something that is condemned and resisted by the religious world and those in power is not necessarily wrong, that it is highly probable that it comes from God and is God’s work. Therefore, when investigating whether or not something is the work of God, one cannot make this judgment based on whether or not the religious world and those in power acknowledge or accept it. We can see from all the works done in the Age of Law and the Age of Grace that, to determine whether something is or is not the work of God, it mainly depends on whether what is expressed by that way is or is not the truth, whether or not it is something urgently needed by mankind at the present moment, and whether or not it is the work of the Holy Spirit. Only in this way can it be discerned whether or not it is the work of God in its essence—this is most crucial.

Mankind’s corruption is growing deeper and deeper in the last days. Man is entirely under the control of their satanic, corrupt nature, often committing sins involuntarily, all living lives of sinning by day and confessing by night—they are living in unbearable pain. Mankind is becoming more and more distant from God, and their hope for attaining salvation is becoming more and more remote. In order to save man from this never-ending predicament of sinning and confessing, confessing and sinning, and so they can thoroughly cast off their satanic, corrupt dispositions as well as the constraints and fetters of sin so that they are cleansed and attain God’s salvation, God has once again become flesh to express the truth and judge corrupt mankind, and He performs a new stage of work to utterly purify and save mankind. This time, God was incarnated in the East of the world—in China—appearing and performing His work. He has brought the Age of Grace to a close and begun the Age of Kingdom, He has brought higher, more abundant truths than ever before, He has unveiled the mysteries of all of God’s works since the creation of the world, and He has bestowed upon man all the truths to cleanse and save them. Those who accept the work of Almighty God in the last days have come to understand many truths from the words expressed by Almighty God, they have clearly seen that Almighty God who expresses the truth in the last days is truly the returned Lord Jesus, they have gained clear knowledge of their own corrupt nature and the root cause of their sins, they have found the path to resolve their satanic and corrupt dispositions, and their hearts are bright and clear. By experiencing the judgment, chastisement, trials and refinement of God’s words, their life dispositions are constantly changing, they see the hope of salvation, and they have true knowledge of God’s good and holy essence as well as His righteous and inviolable disposition. They have a more practical understanding and knowledge of what God has and is, such as His almightiness, wisdom and authority, and they can all perceive that their belief in God is no longer empty or vague, but instead is becoming more and more real. They truly experience God as so dear and lovely, thus giving rise to a God-fearing heart. They have developed true obedience and consideration for God, and they all clearly appreciate that Almighty God’s work of judgment in the last days can indeed purify and save man. In the last days, the time of Almighty God’s work of judgment and purification is short and it moves very quickly, like a bolt of lightning. In just over two short decades, God’s gospel of the kingdom has spread throughout the Chinese mainland and has made a group of overcomers, and now the gospel is rapidly expanding to all nations, to all corners of the world. This precisely fulfills the Lord Jesus’ prophecy: “For as the lightning comes out of the east, and shines even to the west; so shall also the coming of the Son of man be” (Matthew 24:27). Nevertheless, the pastors and elders of the religious world stubbornly cling to religious notions and, faced with God’s new work that is at odds with man’s notions, not only do they not seek or investigate it, but they brandish the Bible and hunt for mistakes which they can use against God, recklessly judging and condemning Almighty God’s work in the last days, and vilifying The Church of Almighty God as the “Eastern Lightning sect” and as heresy. Their actions and deeds are cut from the same cloth as those of the Jewish chief priests, scribes and Pharisees when they condemned the Lord Jesus. That they can defy and attack God’s work in the last days so, and obstruct people from looking into and following God’s footsteps and obeying God’s work, does that not truly make them modern-day Pharisees who defy and condemn Christ? Is the essence of their actions not hating the truth and blaspheming against the Holy Spirit? The savage condemnation of Almighty God’s appearance and work by the leaders of the religious world also completely fulfills the Lord Jesus’ words when He prophesied His return: “For as the lightning, that lightens out of the one part under heaven, shines to the other part under heaven; so shall also the Son of man be in His day. But first must He suffer many things, and be rejected of this generation” (Luke 17:24–25).

If Almighty God did not utter His word and unveil mysteries, then we would never understand what is truly meant by the prophecy “For as the lightning comes out of the east, and shines even to the west.” Almighty God says: “When all people take heed, when all things are renewed and revived, when every person submits to God without qualms, and is willing to shoulder the heavy responsibility of God’s burden—this is when the eastern lightning issues forth, illuminating all from the East to the West, terrifying all of earth with the arrival of this light; and at this moment, God once again begins His new life. … Which is to say, in the world’s East, from when testimony to God Himself begins, to when He begins to work, to when divinity begins to wield sovereign power across the earth—this is the glowing shaft of the eastern lightning, which has ever shone out to the whole universe. When the countries on earth become the kingdom of Christ is when the whole universe is illuminated. Now is the time when the eastern lightning issues forth: God incarnate begins to work, and, furthermore, speaks directly in divinity. It can be said that when God begins to speak on earth is when the eastern lightning comes forth. More precisely, when living water flows from the throne—when the utterances from the throne begin—is precisely when the utterances of the seven Spirits formally begin” (“Interpretation of the Twelfth Utterance” in The Word Appears in the Flesh). “Throughout the universe I am doing My work, and in the East, thunderous crashes issue forth endlessly, shaking all nations and denominations. It is My voice that has led all men into the present. I shall cause all men to be conquered by My voice, to fall into this stream, and submit before Me, for I have long since reclaimed My glory from all the earth and issued it forth anew in the East. Who does not long to see My glory? Who does not anxiously await My return? Who does not thirst for My reappearance? Who does not pine for My loveliness? Who would not come to the light? Who would not look upon the richness of Canaan? Who does not long for the return of the Redeemer? Who does not adore the Great Almighty? My voice shall spread throughout the earth; I wish, facing My chosen people, to speak more words to them. Like the mighty thunders that shake the mountains and rivers, I speak My words to the whole universe and to mankind. Hence the words in My mouth have become man’s treasure, and all men cherish My words. The lightning flashes from the East all the way to the West. My words are such that man is loath to give them up and at the same time finds them unfathomable, but rejoices in them all the more. Like a newborn infant, all men are glad and joyful, celebrating My coming. By means of My voice, I shall bring all men before Me. Thenceforth, I shall formally enter into the race of men so that they will come to worship Me. With the glory that I radiate and the words in My mouth, I shall make it such that all men come before Me and see that the lightning flashes from the East…. For I have long since been resurrected, and have departed from mankind’s midst, and then reappeared with glory among men. I am He who was worshiped countless ages before now, and I am also the infant forsaken by the Israelites countless ages before now. Moreover, I am the all-glorious Almighty God of the present age!” (“The Seven Thunders Peal—Prophesying That the Gospel of the Kingdom Shall Spread Throughout the Universe” in The Word Appears in the Flesh). From the words of Almighty God we can see that God’s work and word of the last days are the lightning that shines forth from the East. The “lightning” is the great light, meaning the word of God, God’s way of judgment and chastisement in the last days. The phrase “comes out of the east” means coming from China, and “shines even to the west” means being spread to the West. Finally, “the coming of the Son of man” refers to God becoming flesh and first revealing Himself and starting His work in the East, in China. There He makes complete a group of people who truly know God, and they are the overcomers as prophesied in the Book of Revelation. Then through these people, the gospel of the last days is spread to the West, so that all may receive God’s salvation of the last days. These words have now been fulfilled—this is a fact that can be seen by everyone! The lightning of the East (God’s work of judgment during the last days in China) can allow us to receive all the love and salvation that God bestows upon man, can allow us to know the true face of God, and gives rise to true reverence and worship of God within us. Just like a bolt of lightning, God’s word gives man light and hope. All those who accept the lightning of the East—God’s work of the last days—can all bear witness to this.

At this point, I believe you all have a clear answer to the question of what the origin of Eastern Lightning is. God is the Creator of the heavens and earth and all things. God began His work of salvation because man was corrupted by Satan. God wishes to have all the people in the universe see His deeds, for all faiths to become one, worshiping the Creator, and to have all those who truly seek God’s appearance and follow His footsteps achieve purity and attain salvation. He will take these people who are in accord with God’s will into the kingdom to rest with Him. So, each and every of our brothers and sisters who truly believe in God and eagerly await the Lord Jesus’ return should set aside their religious notions and study the true way. Do not heed rumors and blindly oppose the true way, as it will end in the loss of God’s salvation in the last days. We must keep apace of the steps of God’s work, following God’s footsteps closely. This is the only way we can obtain His salvation in the end and be brought by God into His kingdom.

The Word of God | "Only the Perfected Can Live a Meaningful Life"

Almighty God says, "Those who have been perfected are not just able to achieve obedience after being conquered, but they are also able to have knowledge of the work of judgment, change their disposition, and know God. They experience the path of loving God and are filled with the truth. They know how to experience God’s work, are able to suffer for God, and have their own wills. …The perfected refers to those who, after the conquering work ends, are able to pursue the truth and be gained by God. It refers to those who, after the conquering work ends, stand firm in tribulation and live out the truth."

Eastern Lightning, The Church of Almighty God was created because of the appearance and work of Almighty God, the second coming of the Lord Jesus, Christ of the last days. It is made up of all those who accept Almighty God's work in the last days and are conquered and saved by His words. It was entirely founded by Almighty God personally and is led by Him as the Shepherd. It was definitely not created by a person. Christ is the truth, the way, and the life. God's sheep hear God's voice. As long as you read the words of Almighty God, you will see God has appeared.

The Word of God in the Last Days | "Only Those Who Know the Work of God Today Can Serve God"

Almighty God says, "In your belief in God, how should you know God? You should come to know God based on the words and work of God today, without deviation or fallacy, and before all else you should know the work of God. This is the foundation of knowing God.

I Now Know What the Meaning of Life Is

Feb 14, 2019

By Jinqu, South Korea

“God chose me from a vast ocean of people, miraculously arranging that I come to His side. His kind words warmed my heart, His earnest calls woke me up from my dream. That familiar voice, that beautiful countenance have not changed from the very beginning. In God’s family I taste the sweetness of His love. I lean close to Him and do not want to part again. Without God, the days were hard to bear. I staggered along with each step full of pain. Only with God’s hidden protection did I reach today. And now with God’s words by me I am satisfied” (“Attachment to God” in Follow the Lamb and Sing New Songs). Whenever I hear this beautiful and melodic hymn, I am filled with gratitude to God. It was God who saved me from the abyss of money and caused me to no longer work so desperately hard, and I said farewell to the days of selling my life for money …

Gospel Song | "A Different Age, Different Divine Work" | Do You Know the Work of God in the New Age?

In the last days, it’s mainly the fact that “the Word becomes flesh” that’s accomplished by God.

 I

Through His actual work on earth, God causes man to know Him, causes man to engage with Him, and makes man see His actual deeds. He makes man clearly see that He sometimes does or doesn’t display signs and perform wonders. This is dependent on the age. This shows that God’s capable of displaying signs and wonders, but He changes His working based on His work and on the age. ’Cause it’s a different age and a different stage of God’s work, the deeds that God makes plain are different. Man’s belief in God is not in signs, wonders or miracles, but in His real work during the new age, during the new age.

The Word of God | "The Wicked Must Be Punished" | God's Warning to Man in the Last Days

Almighty God says, “Man always believes that God is unchanging, and defines Him according to the Bible, as though man has seen through to God’s management, as though all that God does is in the hands of man. People are ridiculous to the extreme, they are possessed of the utmost arrogance, and they all have a flair for turgid eloquence. Regardless of how great your knowledge of God, still I say that you do not know God, that there are none who are more opposed to God, and that you condemn God, for you are utterly incapable of obeying the work of God and walking the path of being made perfect by God. Why is God never satisfied with the actions of man? Because man does not know God, because he has so many conceptions, and because, instead of complying with reality, all of his knowledge of God is cut from the same cloth, and rigid and inflexible. Thus, having come to earth today, God has once more been nailed to the cross by man.

Today’s Devotion: Do You Worship God in Spirit and in Truth?

Jan 3, 2019

By Xian xin

The Lord Jesus said, “When the true worshippers shall worship the Father in spirit and in truth: for the Father seeks such to worship him. God is a Spirit: and they that worship him must worship him in spirit and in truth” (John 4:23–24). The Lord requires that we worship God in spirit and in truth, for only in that way can we win His praise. But what exactly does worshiping God in spirit and in truth entail? Some brothers and sisters believe that insistently praying and reading the Bible every day is worshiping God, and some believe that attending meetings on time and going to church every week is worshiping God, and there are some who believe that toiling and working for the Lord, and giving things up and expending themselves for the Lord is worshiping God, and so on. There are many ways to practice worshiping God, but are we worshiping Him in spirit and in truth? Does God praise our practices? Let’s fellowship this together now.

Gospel Song | "People Better Know God Through the Work of Words" | The

Power of the Word of God

I

God of the last days mainly uses the word to perfect man,

not signs and wonders to oppress or convince him,

since these can’t explain God’s power.

If God showed only signs and wonders,

it would be impossible to make plain the reality of God,

and thus impossible to perfect man.

God doesn’t perfect man by signs and wonders,

but waters and shepherds man using words,

to achieve man’s obedience, knowledge of God.

This is the aim of His work and His words.

God doesn’t use signs and wonders to perfect man.

He uses words and many types of work instead,

such as refinement, dealing, pruning or provision of words.

God speaks from different perspectives to make man perfect,

and to give man a greater knowledge of the work,

wisdom and wonder of God.

II

God’s work done today is real work,

with no signs or wonders now,

since they’d throw His real work into disorder,

and He’d be unable to do any more work.

Could it show whether man’s belief in God is true

if He said He’d use the word to perfect man

but also showed man signs and wonders?

Therefore, God doesn’t do such things.

God doesn’t use signs and wonders to perfect man.

He uses words and many types of work instead,

such as refinement, dealing, pruning or provision of words.

God speaks from different perspectives to make man perfect,

and to give man a greater knowledge of the work,

wisdom and wonder of God.

III

There’s too much of religion in man.

God has come during the last days

to expel man’s religious notions, unreal things

and make man know God’s reality.

He’s come to remove the image of a God

that is abstract, fanciful and doesn’t exist.

So now the only thing precious for you

is having knowledge of reality.

To search for truth in one’s belief in God

and to pursue life rather than signs and wonders,

this should be the goal of all who believe in God.

God doesn’t use signs and wonders to perfect man.

He uses words and many types of work instead,

such as refinement, dealing, pruning or provision of words.

God speaks from different perspectives to make man perfect,

and to give man a greater knowledge of the work,

wisdom and wonder of God.
